Britney Spears now has her second top ten debut of the year. “Till the World Ends,” the second single from her “Femme Fatale” album, bowed at number ten this week on the “Billboard” Digital Songs chart. Spears’ previous single, “Hold It Against Me,” entered the chart at number one back in January. “Femme Fatale” is due out March 29th. Elsewhere on this week’s chart, Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” continues to hold the top spot for the third consecutive week while Jennifer Lopez’s “On the Floor” climbs from number three to two thanks in part to the debut of her music video on “American Idol” last Thursday. Rihanna and Kesha also climb the chart this week while Katy Perry and Adele both lose ground. If for some reason you haven’t heard Britney’s newest single, here it is for your listening enjoyment:

Miley Cyrus’ new video for the song Who Owns My Heart features the nearly 18 year old pop star lying on a bed and dancing in a club. This has parents up in arms saying the video is “too sexy” for young girls.
The President of The Parents Television Council, Tim Winter, is getting into the criticism too:
“It is unfortunate that she would participate in such a sexualized video like this one. It sends messages to her fan base that are diametrically opposed to everything she has done up to this point. Miley built her fame and fortune entirely on the backs of young girls, and it saddens us that she seems so eager to distance herself from that fan base so rapidly.”
This is like a broken record. Didn’t the same thing happen with Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and almost every other child star? If parents are looking for someone to blame, maybe they should blame society instead of its products.
Pop culture is obsessed with sex. It is what sells records and gets people into movie theaters. Miley has to embrace this fact to stay relevant with the Ke$has and Katy Perrys of the world. Besides, Miley is grown up now and gets to do what she wants. Parents should spend more time parenting and less time complaining about pop stars.
